Each week has a creative focus

Week 1: Color Lab - June 29-July 3

A week all about color! Color theory through doing. Color mixing and bold experiences with different mediums. Each child spends the week learning about process and techniques. They experiment on paper before taking home a finished painting on canvas they created.

Week 2: Hands in Clay - July 6-10

A pottery-deep week. Pinch pots, coil building, slab construction, and clay sculpture. One afternoon spent observing and having a go at the Pottery Wheel. Students decorate all their pieces. Everyone leaves having built something real from a lump of earth.

(pieces ready for pickup in 4-6 weeks)

Week 3: Natural World- July 13-17

Get inspired by the world around you. Pressed leaves and flowers in clay, painting with natural pigments, nature sketching at the park, building tiny landscapes and terrariums they bring home and care of.

Week 4: Story and Sketchbook - July 20-24

Kids always tell the best stories. Comic panels, illustrated journals, character design, and personal sketchbooks campers build, fill and bring home and tell you their greatest story yet.

Week 5: Print and Pattern- July 27-31

Printmaking week! Stamp carving, cyanotype, textile printing, and pattern design. Transforming artworks then some of their basic clothes into something radically unique.

Week 6: Texture and Touch - August 3-7

A tactile week. Working with surface texture using mixed media. Handmade paper, raw materials, using objects found in your kitchen and outdoors. Creating with materials that beg to be touched. Art you experience with your hands as much as your eyes.

Week 7: Creature week - August 10-14

Invent and build a creature from scratch. Clay animals, monster drawings, imaginary beasts with names and backstories. One of the most imaginative weeks of the summer.

Week 8: Mixed Media Mashup - August 17-21

No rules, all materials. Combining paint, paper, clay, fabric, and found objects into layered, collaged, dimensional work. The messiest week by design.

Week 9: The Big Collaboration-August 24-28

A week of group art. A studio-wide mural, a collaborative sculpture, shared projects where every camper contributes to something larger than themselves.
